Elementary Summer Reading

SUMMER READING PROGRAM
ELEMENTARY LEVEL

Can you believe that summer is already here? Summer is a great time to encourage family reading. Studies show that most students experience a loss of reading skills over the summer, but students who continue to read actually gain skills. To encourage the habit of reading over the break, we have prepared a list of books that your child can read this summer. You can find these lists below.

We believe our students should read for the benefit of reading; however, we also want to add an extra incentive. Each student who reads, completes a book report project, and turns it in on the first day of school (August 10, 2023) will receive a special treat during an upcoming lunch. Also, each student will be entered into a drawing for one of three $10 Book Fair gift cards. These gift cards may be used at our school book fair in the fall.

Summer reading for elementary is for fun and to encourage the love of reading – it is not required! Listed below are samples of some book projects for students. For additional ideas, you may help your child search online for “alternate book report projects”. Pinterest always has plenty of creative ideas.

Have a wonderful summer!
